It was an emotional night for Rachel Kelly at Phoenixville’s 2014 Dogwood Pageant last Saturday, April 12.

The Phoenixville Area High School junior was crowned this year’s Dogwood Queen at the conclusion of the three hour-long pageant at Barkley Elementary School.

“It’s a dream come true,” she said through tears afterwards. “It is an honor to represent Phoenixville as Dogwood Queen.”

Kelly said she plans to become even more involved in the community and is challenging herself to work on more community service projects with her newfound title.

Kelly also won the Director’s Leadership Award. Madison Barker was first runner up to the crown and winner of the Outstanding Talent Award. Desiree Dyson took home the Angie Jaworski Miss Congeniality Award. Barker, Dyson and fellow top five finalists Taylor Reed and Julie Andrews make up this year’s Dogwood Court.
