LIMERICK One person and a dog are safe after a fire destroyed a trailer home at 165 Ridge Pike Wednesday morning.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities on the scene said the fire may have started in the heater room.

Around 10:38 a.m. fire crews and police arrived at unit 142 of the Ridge View Trailer Park and found thick, heavy smoke billowing from the back of the trailer, according to Greg Breyer, the fire marshal for Limerick Township.

The light purple and white home is one in a line of several trailer homes. The close proximity of the trailers and high winds were a concern for crews, but Breyer said the fire did not spread.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in 20 minutes, Breyer said, but crews remained on scene until approximately 12:10 p.m. investigating and cleaning up.

The trailer was a total loss; smoke and water damage, broken windows and huge holes could be seen.
