St. John's Lutheran Church invites singers for annual Choir & Friends concert

St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 355 St. Johnís Circle, Phoenixville, invites singers to join in the annual ďSt. Johnís Choir & FriendsĒ concert on Sunday, May 4, at 7 p.m. Performed will be Franz Schubertís Mass in G and Gabriel Faurťís Cantique de Jean Racine. Accompaniment will be provided by the Providence Chamber Orchestra and organist Joseph J. Lewis. The performance will be conducted by F. Thomas Snyder, III, Director of Music at St. Johnís.

This year marks the twenty-fourth concert in the series. Past programs have included Gabriel Faurťís Requiem, W. A. Mozartís Requiem and Te Deum, Franz Schubertís Mass in G, Howard Hansonís Song of Democracy, John Rutterís Te Deum and Requiem, a concert version of Gilbert and Sullivanís Pirates of Penzance, Glorias by Antonio Vivaldi and Francis Poulenc, J. S. Bachís Magnificat, Johannes Brahmsí German Requiem, Ralph Vaughan Williamsí Five Mystical Songs, Luigi Cherubiniís Requiem, Maurice Durufleís Requiem, parts II and III of G. F. Handelís Messiah, Patriotic Selections, Broadway Selections and Spirituals. Last year 60 singers from 25 area churches joined in performance of Patriotic and Broadway music.

Rehearsals are scheduled at St. Johnís on Sundays, March 23, 30, April 6, 13 and 27 from 7 to 9 p.m.; and May 4 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. A light supper will follow the May 4 rehearsal. Music will be provided for the singers. For additional information contact Tom Snyder, Director of Music,
