College Corner: Deyo powers Alvernia

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Alvernia’s Harrison Deyo (Phoenixville) scored a career-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists in the Crusaders’ 78-63 victory over Lycoming.

Deyo followedup his performance against Lycoming with an eight-point, six-rebound showing as Alvernia defeated Stevenson, 97-82.

Shippensburg redshirt-freshman Marcus Williams (Perkiomen Valley) led allplayers with 12 rebounds to goalong with two points in a 72-68 loss to Lock Haven. Williams grabbed nine rebounds as the Raiders lost to Cheyney, 62-58.

Ursinus guard Steve Leonard (Perkiomen Valley) saw action in the Bears’ 87-78 win against Haverford.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Division II

Philadelphia University’s Megan Finn (Perkiomen Valley) added nine points and four assists as the Rams defeated Holy Family, 83-66. Finn then scored seven points as her team beat Caldwell, 91-80.

Millersville’s Courtney Hinnant (Spring-Ford) saw action as the Marauders fell to Bloomsburg in a tight one, 79-77.

Division III

Cabrini junior Amber Keys (Phoenixville) led the way with 17 points in 18 minutes off the bench with 8-for-10 shooting as the Cavaliers defeated Baptist Bible College, 73-41. Keys then grabbed 10 rebounds and added two points as Cabrini defeated Marywood, 58-48.

Gwynedd Mercy’s Chandler DiFebbo (Phoenixville) had three points, three rebounds and one blocked shot in a 97-21 rout of Notre Dame of Maryland. DiFebbo also contributed three points, four rebounds and two assists in Gwynedd Mercy’s 86-44 victory over Centenary.

Scranton freshman forward Sarah Payonk (Spring-Ford) had 10 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals in a 66-65 loss to Moravian. Payonk scored eight points, including ahlftime buzzer-beater, as the Lady Royals defeated Juniata, 76-52.

Gettysburg’s Samantha Pagel (Perkiomen Valley) had three rebounds and two assists in 15 minutes as the Bullets defeated Franklin & Marshall, 58-41.
