2 injured in Route 422 crash involving empty school bus

LIMERICK — Two people were injured after a crash involving an empty school bus on Route 422 Wednesday morning, according to state police.

The four-vehicle crash happened around 8:15 a.m. in the eastbound lane near the Limerick/Linfield exit, police said.

Harold Wambold, 78, of Harleysville, was driving the school bus when it collided with a stopped Volvo driven by Kristen Warrell, 45, of Phoenixville, police said.

Warrell was stopped behind a Toyota Camry driven by Stephen Wagner. Wagner, 57, of Hatfield, was stopped behind a Honda Accord driven by Janine Rose, 58, of Reading.

Police said the impact of the school bus with Warrell’s Volvo pushed it into Wagner’s Toyota and caused a chain-reaction crash.

According to police, Warrell and Rose were taken to Phoenixville Hospital for treatment. The Volvo and Toyota were towed from the scene, police said.

Details about the women’s injuries were not released.

Police said charges will be filed with District Judge Walter F. Gadzicki Jr.
