EAST PIKELAND — Once again, township residents can recycle their Christmas trees once their celebration of the holidays is complete.
According to a release from East Pikeland, residents have two options for recycling which will turn their spruces and firs into wood mulch that will “then be made available,,,in the spring to use for gardening.”
The first option involves dropping the tree off at the township’s compost yard behind the township building at 1158 Rapps Dam Road between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
For the second option, residents can leave their tree curbside for a public works crew to pick up, “weather permitting” between Jan 6 and Jan 24.
No matter the option, all trees must have all ornaments removed. Additionally, residents are advised not to wrap the trees in plastic or place near their trash. The latter could cause the tree to get picked up by trash crews and prevent it from being recycled.
Any questions can be directed to the township offices at 610-933-1770.
