In the race for Perkiomen Valley School Director, it was the Republicans coming out on top, according to unofficial results of the 15,000+ votes counted by Montgomery County Voter Services.
Retaining their seats for another four years were Lynn Bigelow, Lori Snyder and (in the 2-year term election) Andrea Galambos and Paul Smith. Winning new four-year terms are Richard Bouher and Rachael Charyna, who finished third and fourth in vote count, respectively. Bougher and Charyna are slated to replace John King, who finished fifth in the vote count, and Randy Bennett, who did not seek re-election.
Bigelow, who received the most votes of all candidates (24.47%), is the current board Vice-President and will be entering into his third four-year term should the unofficial results hold. In his responses to a pre-election questionnaire fielded by the Phoenix Reporter & Item, he stated that his top priorities include emphasizing personalized learning techniques for students, advancing the quality of staff and providing the best possible education at a reasonable cost to the taxpayers. Mr. Bigelow is the Director of Finance for SEDONA Corporation, based in King of Prussia.
Bouher, who works as a construction project manager and is the Republican Committee Person for Perkiomen Township, informed the Phoenix Reporter & Item in a pre-election questionnaire that he intends to use his knowledge of construction to the benefit of a “School Board (with) little, or no experience in construction, and has made poor decisions in the past”. He also stated that he will attempt to provide “more transparency” to the operations of the School Directors.
