Perkiomen Valley Marching Vikings win state championships

KUTZTOWN ó The Perkiomen Valley School Districtís Marching Vikings won the Group 4A USBands Pennsylvania State Championships at Kutztown University Saturday night.

According to band director, David Overholtzer, the bandís championship performance was delayed by rain. The band stood 20 minutes in the downpour before the delay was called and the band was moved inside. When they finally performed, the Marching Vikings beat out bands from Coatesville, West Chester Rustin, Pleasant Valley and Council Rock South.

The band also won awards for Best Music, Best Visual, Best Overall Effect, and Best Percussion in their division.
