Television production trucks and vans have been seen in the parking lot of Phamous Phil’s BBQ all week long, as the Collegeville restaurant serves host to a yet to be named TV crew filming a yet to be named TV show.
Phamous Phil’s, located at 3839 Germantown Pike, will be closed all this week and reopen next Wednesday with regular hours.
According to Phamous Phil’s Robin Schmidt, who cannot name the network or the show until the filming has been completed, the major TV station came to the three-and-a-half year old business to perform what she could only describe as an “update”.
“People should go to PhamousPhils.com and sign up for the mailing list for updates,” she said. “We expect to make the announcement on Monday.”
Schmidt added that the TV network’s selection of the Collegeville BBQ spot as the subject of the show was merely as a result of luck.
“I emailed them and heard back the next day… …it just so happened that they were doing a new show.”
Phil Schmidt, the Phil in Phamous Phil’s, also shared a thought with the Phoenix Reporter Item before heading back into the restaurant to return to the task at hand.
“There’s a lot going on,” admitted Phil as he stood outside of the restaurant watching members of the TV crew carry items from a van into his business, “they are digging really deep.”
