Local cancer survivor Ed Tell opened his own business to fulfill a lifelong dream and he is now working hard to give back to the community that saved his life.
In November 2012 he opened RAZRBAR, a men’s grooming establishment located in the Providence Town Center in Collegeville, and on September 23 Tell will host the 1st annual RAZRBAR GOLF CLASSIC at Bella Vista Golf Club in Gilbertsville. The funds raised will be benefitting Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center.
“Now that we are up and running I want to show my deep appreciation and support for the institution that gave me hope and saved my life while ensuring other men with cancer also have the opportunity to follow their dreams,” Tell said. “That is the reason for our golf outing this year. This will be an annual event for us… …I plan to integrate other charitable events as well throughout the year.”
The tournament is a two-man scramble format, with a 1:00 PM shotgun start. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Awards, a dinner buffet and a silent auction will follow the outing.
“We are planning for a very fun and enjoyable day on September 23rd at the golf outing, and are hoping to raise a sizable donation for our charity this year,” Tell said.
While working in the Pharmaceutical Industry as a Life Science Marketer, Tell was thrown a life changing curve ball when he was diagnosed with cancer. After walking out of his last cancer treatment he knew that he had to follow his dream and open a business.
Tell’s RAZRBAR is a new grooming concept for men, and a retail destination for women who are seeking great gifts for the men in their lives. He has had a lifelong dream of owning a small business. He has always been fascinated by the salon & barbering industry.
“We offer a one-stop grooming, and shopping destination where men can escape, enhance their look, and simplify their lives,” Tell said. “It’s one of the few industries where you touch your clients, and have a direct impact on their image and self-esteem. I think this is very rewarding. The men’s grooming industry really intrigues me. It has evolved substantially over the last decade. Men have “upped the ante”, so to speak… …when it comes to grooming.”
Tell feels that the male grooming market has become big business. He notes that RAZRBAR has an opportunity to be a leader in this category.
“We are creating a lifestyle brand for men,” Tell said. “We are tweaking our formula in Collegeville with our flagship location but clearly have a desire to build a chain of shops in the greater Philadelphia area. I certainly respect the fact that it doesn’t happen overnight though.”
From classic haircuts, and straight-razor shaves to hand and feet detailing, hair removal and body finishing, and additional skin care services, RAZRBAR offers an upscale grooming experience so men can look their best and feel refreshed.
“We differentiate our business with outstanding client service,” Tell said. “We want our guests to forget about everything else when they visit RAZRBAR. As an owner I truly believe the only way to keep our guests satisfied is by keeping our staff happy.”
