Royersford will be holding their 3rd annual Community Day on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10a.m. to 3p.m.

Main Street will close for the event from 2nd Ave. to 6th Ave., for a wide variety of family fun activities, free entertainment and vendor tents set up for community members to enjoy.

Jan Christman Jackowski, an officer of the Royersford Business Association and a chair of the Community Day, said there will be a little bit of everything throughout the day.

“For only being the third year, it has grown and is working out very well. Last year I’d say we had about 3,200 people, (this year) we’ll aim for 4,000 hopefully.”

Events will include a free kids area, games, prizes, a car show, pet show and a moon bounce. Tents set up will include vendors selling their wares, and non profit organizations such as the Spring City Library and Rotary Club. “We have 88 vendors and 80 cars right now,” said Jackowski. “We have brick and mortar businesses from the town, like we have some dentists, some chiropractors, some banks, people who are just putting their name out there. Then we also have people that sell jewelry and clothing.”

The car show will feature many cars from all different eras. Trophies will be given out to winning cars, and there is no charge to enter the event.

“We used to say classic car show, but now we just say car show. It is more older classic cars, but we also get new cars as well,” said Jackowski.

“We’re trying to give back to the community. It’s family friendly. There’s a variety of something for everyone. Mom can shop, the kids can go to the kids area and dad can look at the cars,” said Jackowski. “We have music, we have a pet show with prizes.”

Categories for the pet show include smallest, largest, cutest, ugliest, and looks the most like their owner.

A food court will be set up with 15 food vendors with different types of foods to purchase, including wings, pizza and sausage sandwiches, snow cones, funnel cake, Nelson’s ice cream, cupcakes by Betsy and much more.

Live entertainment will feature bands playing on a stage, which will be set up on the corner of 3rd Avenue and Main Street. Bands are all donating their time to participate. There will also be people dressed up in costume and performing.

“We have 501st Legion from Stars Wars. We also have a magician who is going to walk around. We have a couple from a string band in costume who are going to serenade people walking around. Texas Roadhouse is sending (someone in costume) an Armadillo,” said Jackowski.

Fire companies will also be set up along a whole block of, and will be doing a demonstration for the crowd.

“It’s just a day to give back to the community. We charge the vendors, but all that does is help pay for the prizes for the kids and also for the advertising. We don’t make any money on it. All the businesses locally also give, we actually have quite the following. We have gold sponsors, silver and bronze,” said Jackowski.

“Come out and join us. It’s a fun day.”
