Three teams win PAPA/PBRD hoop titles

PHOENIXVILLE - The Phoenixville Area Positive Alternatives (PAPA)/Phoenixville Area Recreation Department (PBRD) Summer Basketball League crowned its three age group champions following Aug. 18 title games at Reservoir Park.

In the 7-10 group, Petrucci’s Ice Cream & Water Ice defeated Like Mike’s Barber Shop, 25-15.

In the 11-13 category, Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust edged Dollfus Insurance, 46-44.

In the 14-17 bracket, Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp Funeral Home stopped Philly Fades Barber Shop, 74-54.

In the first game of the afternoon tripleheader, Petrucci’s got a game-high 12 points from Josh Vinson. Jesus Niamh and Malachi Nealy each scored four while Summer Walker had three points plus numerous rebounds and Kayden White two markers.

Elijah Martin, who was named Most Valuable Player of the league for this age division, did not play in the championship contest.

Other Petrucci’s players were Niles Vinson, Jeremiah Rockemore, Jazlyn Tyler, Jesus Chariez and Jonathan Vargas.

Joshua Warren paced Like Mike’s with eight points while Zamiere McIntosh had six and Jacob Meachem one.

Other team players included Darius Watson, Ryan Williams, Xandro Xu, Anthony Fenski, Fisher McCausland and Travell Wellons.

Petrucci’s led at halftime, 10-8.

Noah Baker topped Phoenixville Federal with 26 points, including one triple; followed by Saige Smith with eight, Armante Haynes with six, Evan Morse with four and Donovan Towson with two. Baker was also named league MVP for the 11-13s.

Corey Cottman and Colton Desimone also played some solid minutes for the Bankers.

Kyle Kopera and Matthew Dade each totaled 15 points for Dollfus Insurance while Steven Hamilton and Jalen Meachem each tabbed seven. Kopera nailed two 3-point field goals while Hamilton and Meachem each made one trey.

Other team members included Terrance Barrett, Dasia Engle, Lucas Kapusta, Jasmin Young and August Stauffer.

Dollfus held a 27-18 halftime lead, but Phoenixville Federal outscored its foe 28-17 during the second half.

In the oldest group, Billy Kedra fired home a game-high 30 points to lead Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp to victory. Kedra tallied 15 points in each half and was selected as league MVP for the age group. He sank one 3-pointer during the second half.

Christian Kelly and Shyheim Abernathy also finished in double figures with 16 and 12, respectively, for the Funeral Home. Marquise McDuffy had eight counters, Dan Sierzega five and Ezekiel Vinson three.

Charlie Lemon and Angelina Tedesco as well as Collin Savory and Chris Modica were also on the DRK roster.

C.J. Lindsay drilled 18 points and Isaiah Johnson tossed in 15 for Philly Fades. Damien Davido had nine, Nasir Green six and Hunter Hershall, James Fields and Thomas Tassoni two points each.

Zach Mazolski, Amanda Fields and Nick Mara were also on the Philly Fades roster.

Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp took a 37-20 halftime lead.
