The Phoenixville Police Department saw one longtime officer promoted and another brought onto the department during the borough’s August 13 council meeting.
Corporal Patrick Mark, a 13 year veteran of the department, was promoted to Sergeant and sworn in by Phoenixville Mayor Leo Scoda.
Following Mark’s promotion to Sergeant, Mayor Scoda then performed a swearing in ceremony for Phoenixville’s newest patrolman, Kyle Place.
Police Chief William Mossman shared the following thoughts on the promotion and addition with the Phoenix Reporter & Item:
“(Sergeant Mark) has been our multiple hat wearer - he has been a D.A.R.E. officer, a patrolman, and has done detective work. He has a lot of experience, is very competent and he is respected by his peers. He’s got the right skills and experience and we thought that it was time for him to take over the platoon.
“We have a normal compliment of 28 officers and Kyle is, probably, our fourth ‘28th officer’ in six months (because) there have been a lot of unexpected changes in the department. Luckily we have a list of good candidates and Kyle scored first on that list. We are really excited, he has the right attitude and we look forward to having him in uniform.”
