Royersford woman cited after crash on Route 422
LIMERICK — Charges are pending against a Royersford woman after a crash on Route 422 east July 20 around 10:11 p.m.
According to the Skippack barracks of the state police, Linda Straface, 53, was driving a 2005 Honda Odyssey east on Route 422 in the left lane when she traveled off the road and hit the guide wire in the center between the east and westbound lanes. The crash disabled the Honda, which had to be towed from the scene, police said. Straface allegedly showed signs of being intoxicated and was taken into custody by police. Straface was not injured in the crash and was wearing her seat belt, police said. Charges are pending in district court.
Collegeville woman cited after crash
WORCESTER TWP. — A Collegeville woman was cited for a traffic violation after she allegedly caused a crash by pulling out into the path of a truck. Police said Joyce E. Ness, 65, was driving a 2007 Toyota Prius on Hollow Road when she stopped at a stop sign for Water Street Road around 9:43 a.m. July 26. Ness pulled out onto Water Street Road in front of a 2010 Ford F350 driven by Martin J. McCarron, 32, of Plymouth Meeting, who was driving east on Water Street Road. The Prius hit the truck causing the truck to spin sideways and off the right side of the road, where it rolled over twice, police said. The truck ended up on its passenger said facing southwest. The Prius ended up off the right side of the road facing east, police said. Both McCarron and Ness were wearing their seat belts, police said. Ness suffered a minor injury and McCarron suffered moderate injury in the crash, police said. McCarron was taken by Lower Providence EMS to Einstein Hospital.
Route 422 crash in Limerick leads to DUI charges
LIMERICK — After allegedly crashing into the rear of a disabled vehicle on the road’s shoulder, police arrested a Pottstown woman for driving under the influence Friday night.
Around 10:20 p.m., Beatrice Calabretta, 55, reportedly drove her 2002 Nissan Sentra off the side of westbound Route 422 near mile marker 179.5 and struck the rear of a 2005 Dodge Caravan that was pulled off onto the shoulder. The Caravan had engine troubles, disabling it, which was the reason it was pulled off to the side, according to state police from Skippack.
Calabretta received injuries in the crash and was taken to Reading Hospital and Medical Center, police said. After that, she was taken into custody for driving under the influence.
It was unclear if the Caravan’s driver, the only person reported in the vehicle, suffered any injuries.
Limerick and Linfield fire companies responded to the scene as well as Trappe and Friendship Ambulance.
Sign damaged in hit-and-run crash in Green Lane
GREEN LANE — Police are seeking information on a driver who fled the scene after crashing into a speed limit sign on Route 29/Gravel Pike around 3:59 a.m. July 28. According to state police at the Skippack barracks, A silver Toyota Camry heading north in the right lane of travel slid on the wet road as it was negotiating a curve with a downward left slope. The car spun counterclockwise and hit the 35MPH speed limit sign, knocking it over, police said. The car then drove away from the scene of the crash heading north, police said. The car should have damage to the right or left rear tire. Anyone with information on this vehicle is asked to contact the Skippack barracks of the state police at 610-584-1250.
