While we like to think that summer time brings about lazy breezy, easy days, the truth is we end up running just as hard throughout the summer. Kids partaking in camp after camp, and you shuffling them everywhere. Vacation packing and unpacking, family in town, sleepovers - we should really call those sleep deprivation doses - on and on go the good times! Whoohoo…
Let’s talk about the fact that we are running our bodies down at this pace, and what are our options for having a great summer but staying healthy.
I would like to suggest to you an approach that has been known to man since the beginning of time - though it did not always have a title or word attachment.
Let me start by saying this…if we were just a body, we would be a corpse. So what is the difference between you and a corpse? Both have all the same organs and tissues.
The difference is a life force. It is this invisible part of human beings that we call Innate Intelligence. It is what makes us alive! It is vital to life and to proper function of the body.
Once a surgeon has done all he can to repair a broken or diseased body part, they realize that it is the inborn wisdom of innate intelligence that actually does the healing. That is why they want to “see you back here in two weeks”.
Eating wholesome food will only benefit you minimally if your body is not able to metabolize that food and to change it into walking, talking flesh and blood.
Think about that. A living person has the ability to make living cells out of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. A dead person can’t.
What happens if your innate intelligence in functioning at less than 100 percent of what it should be? Would you want only 80 percent of the life giving force in your body going to your heart? Of course not. What bout your kidneys or your pancreases or your digestive system? You really cannot afford to have any organs or systems of your body functioning at less than they should.
It is important to have our life force/innate intelligence work at its highest level at all times. Especially when your body is in need of healing and fighting off summertime stresses. A well functioning innate intelligence may be the difference between you making it to the next splash party or staying home in bed with a cough and runny nose.
This invisible part of you and its ability to work fully is a Chiropractors focus. Innate intelligence travels within the nervous system. Improved operation of the nervous system allows for improved function of the innate intelligence which in turn allows for improved organ, system, cell and tissue function.
Think about this: all areas of your life require mental impulses to travel unimpeded over the nervous system? Wouldn’t you be more coordinated with a clearer nervous system? Wouldn’t your children be able to think more clearly during school? Do you think your immune system would fight off that summer cold floating around camp if it was given the opportunity to work at its peak level? Sure it would!
So what does all this innate intelligence have to do with Chiropractic? Well in order for all these life messages to reach the physical parts of your body it needs a pathway.
The pathway for the messages is the Nervous System. The Spinal Column and its 24 movable bones protect the nervous system. When one of the bones becomes misaligned and interferes with the nerve pathway, the messages get distorted. The body cannot function properly with distorted instruction. The goal of a Chiropractor is to correct the misaligned bones so the messages get through clearly.
For that reason, chiropractors recommend that everyone - family members of all ages - should have their spine checked for these misalignments regularly so that they will be healthier and operate at a higher level at work and at home and that your children will develop and function better both at school and doing the activities they enjoy.
As always, if you have any questions and would like to talk more about helping your family overcome disease, illness and getting them to a truly healthy level of function, please don’t hesitate to call.
That’s it for this week folks. Keep on keeping cool!
