VALLEY FORGE — Bonnie Misko of Phoenixville, president of the Pilot Club of Valley Forge, announced that three local students were among those who were awarded Pilot International Foundation Scholarships for 2013-14. They are Mary Elizabeth Grover of Phoenixville, Katie Vining of Limerick and Lisa Swartzentruber of Royersford.
Grover, who will be a senior at Shenandoah University majoring in kinesiology, and Vining, who will be a senior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in speech pathology, each received a $1,500 PIF Scholarship. Swarzentruber, a graduate student at LaSalle University majoring in speech-language pathology, received a $1,000 Marie Newton-Sepia Scholarship.
Their selection was announced at the Pilot International Convention in New Orleans in July. All the students were sponsored by the Pilot Club of Valley Forge, the local chapter of Pilot International whose focus is helping people with brain-related disorders through research, education and community service projects.
