Two Black Rock Fire Company firefighters out of service after crash

UPPER PROVIDENCE A fire engine from the Black Rock Fire Company was involved in an accident at the intersection of Black Rock Road and Egypt Road Thursday morning.

The fire engine was responding to an emergency on Route 422 westbound at 8:40 a.m. when the truck crashed with a tractor trailer on Egypt Road.

According to a press release from the Black Rock Fire Company, two firefighters were transported to the Phoenixville Hospital for minor injuries and were treated and released. They will be out of action for several months.

The fire engine involved in the accident sustained heavy front end damage as a result of the accident.


The tractor trailer, according to Upper Providence Police, was driven away from the scene.

To continue operations, Black Rock Fire Company has relocated fire apparatus and equipment between their Oaks and Mont Clare stations to continue service without interruption.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
