Hospital thrift shop donates $40K to charity

The Thrift Shop of Phoenixville Hospital donated $40,500 to ten local community organizations at the 38th annual Donation Reception held on Monday, June 17, marking the largest donation in the organization’s history. The Thrift Shop, located at 238 Church Street, sells new and gently used clothing, shoes, jewelry, housewares and children’s items. All of the Shop’s proceeds are donated back to the community through grants. Phoenixville Hospital CEO Steve Tullman kicked off the reception with words of congratulations and thanks to the Thrift Shop volunteers. “This record-breaking donation will greatly benefit many people in our community. The work of the Thrift Shop volunteers and the organizations receiving donations should be commended.”
Thrift Shop President Midge Lichert presented the recipients with their donations based on items on their grant application. This year’s recipients included: The Cancer Center at Phoenixville Hospital, Mom’s House, HealthCare Access, St. Mary’s Shelter, Senior Adult Activity Center, The Clinic, Phoenixville Area Community Services (PACS), Phoenixville Community Health Foundations, Phoenixville Hospital Community Health & Education Department, and the Daniel Foundation.
First-time recipient Greg Porter of the Daniel Foundation commented, “This room is full of community heroes and I am grateful to be among you. All of the recipient organizations and the Thrift Shop volunteers are heroes who give back each day to our community.” Be sure to check out the great bargains at the Thrift Shop and know that every dollar you spend helps people in our community. The During July and August the Thrift Shop is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-1pm. September through June hours are Mondays 1-4pm, Tuesday-Friday 10am-4pm, and Saturday 10am-1pm. Donations are gratefully accepted during Shop hours.
