PHOENIXVILLE — Although there was some talk of establishing one, an Air Force Junior ROTC program will not be established in the Phoenixville Area School District next year.
At a school board workshop meeting Thursday night, Assistant Superintendent Regina Palubinsky reported on the curriculum committee’s meeting this month and the decision to put the JROTC program on hold.
“Due to the financial costs at this time, it was decided we would not enter into that partnership this year,” Palubinsky said. “However, we will continue to look at that as a possibility for next year (2014-15) if it would be financially feasible to do so.”
The Air Force had been iffy about establishing the program due to the enacting of the sequester this year, Palubinsky said in a previous meeting, but interest had renewed recently.
