LIMERICK — To recognize their township manager’s recent award, the Limerick Board of Supervisors issued a statement of congratulations and confidence in Dan Kerr for the “well-deserved award.”
Kerr received the Andrew J. Paravis Excellence in Local Government and Education award from the Tri-County Chamber of Commerce on May 30.
“Under his leadership, we have been able to operate at a very high level under a very successful business plan,” Board President Joseph St. Pedro said Tuesday at their meeting.
Kerr began in 2006 as the township’s manager and has been a “key part” of operations since, St. Pedro said.
The second person to receive the award, Kerr follows the award’s namesake, Paravis, who received the award last Spring and died in December after a prolonged battle with cancer.
St. Pedro said Kerr’s “vision” guided Limerick to having the highest rating under Standard and Poor for a municipality, the only township east of Harrisburg to achieve it, according to St. Pedro.
“We are weathering the economic downturn because of him,” St. Pedro said. “We know we have a jewel in Dan. It is wonderful to know that others know that as well.”
“It’s a pleasure to serve this township,” Kerr said. “This board gives (assistant township manager) Beth (DiPrete) and I so much support and enables us to do so much of what we want to do for this community and region so thank you.”
