PHOENIXVILLE — An early morning fire at a house on the first block of East High Street was extinguished in approximately 40 minutes Sunday.

According to the Phoenixville Fire Department, 60 firefighters from four companies worked from 4:45 to 5:23 a.m. to stop the blaze from completely destroying the two-story home on the north side of the borough.

In the end, the damage to the home is estimated around $40,000, according to David Meadows, the department’s deputy fire chief. The Chester County Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire but, at this time, does not believe the fire to be suspicious in nature.
