SPRING CITY — A missionary couple who minister to people who are lonely, hurting or have mental or physical challenges will speak at the May 24 meeting of Mountain Toppers, the seniors group of Grace Assembly of God.
Tom and Tammy Brown are missionaries with Handi*Vangelism Ministries International, which is a ministry of compassion whose purpose is “to share the love of the Lord Jesus Christ and equip the church to share His love with people with disabilities, medical or mental health challenges or broken hearts so they may grow and serve” others.
The Browns concentrate much of their efforts on “Twilight Senior Ministries,” doing Bible Studies and personal visitation at area nursing homes. They will also be involved in Handi*Camp programs this summer, including two weeks at Camp Sankanac in Spring City. The overnight program and Bible Conference is planned so that individuals with various disability can fully participate in fun, fellowship and learning experiences.
Handi*Vangelism’s many-faceted ministries include mobilizing congregations to become more aware of special needs and offering information on how church leaders can make their facilities more accessible and inviting to people with various types of physical or mental challenges. More information is available at the Handi*Vangelism website at www.hvmi.org.
