COLLEGEVILLE - Perkiomen Valley High School seniors studying physics recently launched rockets made from 2-liter soda bottles in an attempt to see how high their creations can carry an egg into the sky while also ensuring a mess-free landing.

Students in Tom Lavanga, Joseph Petsko and Sandra Knotts’ classes were outdoors testing out multi-stage rocket systems that they have designed as part of their study of Newton’s laws, impulse and momentum. Successful designs were able to reach extraordinary heights - but the big question was whether or not they would be able to protect their precious cargo upon landing.
