PHOENIXVILLE — For the second time in less than two months, the Phoenixville Federal Bank at 120 Main Street was robbed, possibly by the same man.
Phoenixville police said a white male in his 20s allegedly threatened employees with a black revolver before demanding money from a teller some time before noon.
“He had (the gun) out and displayed it,” said Sgt. Joe Nemic, a detective with the Phoenixville Police.
In a robbery Feb. 20 at the same location, police said a man “implied that he had a gun” but never showed it before taking an undisclosed amount of money.
In Tuesday’s robbery, police said the robber “concealed his face with the collar of his jacket.”
Leaving the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, he reportedly fled on foot south on Main Street.
Nemic said it was unknown if he had a getaway vehicle or where he went after heading south.
Phoenixville police responded at 11:55 a.m.
The suspect is described as being thin, 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall with dark-colored hair. He was wearing a black fleece sweatshirt with a hood, blue jeans, a red baseball cap and tan or white “skateboard-style sneakers.”
The subject also reportedly had a “prominent nose” and appears to have some facial hair.
Security camera footage in the bank was taken of the suspect during the robbery.
Phoenixville Federal is offering a $2,500 reward for “information leading to the arrest and conviction” of those responsible for the robberies.
“We’re hoping that the reward the bank has offered will lead us to some information on this guy,” Nemic said.
In addition to the Phoenixville police, the East Pikeland and Schuylkill Township police departments assisted in Tuesday’s robbery. Police could be seen patrolling several blocks around the bank about an hour after the robbery took place.
The FBI and Chester County Detectives are reportedly assisting the Phoenixville Police in the investigation.
Anyone with information in the crimes is asked to contact the Phoenixville Police Department’s detectives at 610-933-1180.
