SPRING CITY – Pennsylvania American Waterannounced the start of water main replacement projects in Spring City Borough to improve service reliability for customers and increase water flows for firefighting. The projects, with a combined cost of approximately $515,000, will replace nearly 3,000 feet of aging pipe that dates back to the 1920s.
Starting this week, crews will install new eight-inch ductile-iron water main along Hall Street between Main and Church streets. The company will also install eight-inch ductile iron pipe main along Broad Street between Church and Wall streets.
Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and motorists are urged to find alternate routes. The company expects to complete both water main installations, including transfer of all customer services and final paving restoration, by the end of June.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
