COLLEGEVILLE — The Perkiomen Valley High School Drama Club will be presenting the musical “Funny Girl” April 5-7. All performances will be held at Perkiomen Valley Middle School East on Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are sold in advance or at the door and are given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“Funny Girl” takes everyone back to the glitz and glamour of Vaudeville shows through the life of Fanny Brice, a Broadway extraordinaire. This production tells the story of Fanny and the struggles of being a Follies star married to a gambler in the time period of World War I.
“Funny Girl” consists of some of the most eye-catching costuming the high school has ever seen. The original Broadway production, as well as the movie, featured Barbara Streisand as Fanny and were produced by Ray Stark, the son-in-law of Ms. Brice.
The high-energy, glamorous portrayal of this beloved Broadway phenomenon is a fantastic event for people of all ages. This production consists of 80 high school students under the direction of Tracy Griffie. All performances will be held in the Spahr Auditorium located in PV Middle School East, 100 Kagey Road, Collegeville. All seating is reserved and limited, so it is best to order tickets in advance.
