West Mont soccer wins Virginia tourney

The weekend of March 8, 2013, proved to be an exciting one fr the West Mont United ‘01-’02 Boys U11 A Team as it won the Addidas Coppa Division in the Annandale Premier Cup in Virginia.

This tournament is ranked number one in the country and is by invitation only. Lede by head coach Steve Sawyer and assistnat coach Greg Duke, the team came ready to play.

The locals’ first vicotry Saturday was 2-1 against the Baltimore Bays, followed by a 10-0 vs. VA-Great Valls. Winning Sunday 6-1 solidified the boys’ spot in the championship game.

Anticipation mounted as West Mont took the field, but there was no stopping the determined boys as they took the win vs. VA-Mount Vernon, 6-1.


The boys played a total of four games with an impressive 25-goal output and only three goals against.
