PHOENIXVILLE — The race for the council seat in the borough’s Middle Ward is shaping up to be a youth movement.

In addition to Kyle Guie, 27, looking to run on the Democratic ticket to regain the seat he was forced to vacate after briefly moving to Lancaster for work, Mike Kuznar, also 27, will run on the Republican side.

Kuznar serves on the borough’s redistricting committee as it continues to meet to try to sort out precincts after redrawing Phoenixville’s wards. He was also recently appointed to the borough’s planning commission.

Karl Bucus, the Republican council member who took over for Guie by council appointment, confirmed via email to The Mercury that he will not seek re-election, clearing the way for Kuznar.

RELATED ASSETS

Petitions are currently circulating and won’t be due until Tuesday, so competition for Guie and Kuznar is expected.
