College Corner: Carr takes 2nd in 800 at MACs

Elizabethtown freshman Rachel Carr (Phoenixville) placed second in the 800-meter run at the MAC Championships with a time of 2:18.50.

Carr was also part of the 4x400 relay team tht finished in 4:12.76.

Blue Jays teammate Traci Tempone (Perkiomen Valley), a junior, won gold in the mile (5:03.49) and 5,000 meters (18:05.80).

MEN’S ICE
HOCKEY
Vermont junior and Collegeville native Chris McCarthy had one assist, which was his 15th of the year, as the Catamounts battled to a solid 1-1 tie with No. 5 New Hampshire.

Bowling Green sophomore and Collegeville native Adam Berkle had one assist in a 5-3 win over Northern Michigan.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Kutztown senior Ashley Wood (Spring-Ford) scored a team-high 19 points on Senior Night as the Golden Bears beat Cheyney, 74-47.

Saint Vincent senior Melissa Mansur (St. Pius X) was named Honorable Mention All-Presidents’ Athletic conference, her first career conference honor.

MEN’S SWIMMING
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships were held last weekend with Bloomsburg University finishing in second place.

On the final day, sophomore Aaron Cancro (Spring-Ford) finished 10th in the 200 back (1:55.58). On Saturday, Cancro placed ninth in the 100 fly (52.23) and eighth in the 100 back (53.08). Earlier, Cancro was a member of a fourth-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:27.17).
