Phoenixville wrestlers Jordan Valenteen, Garrett Serwatka and Trey Romance all worked their way back through consolations to medal at the Penn Manor Tournament in Millersville on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14-15.
Valenteen finished fourth at 195 pounds while Serwatka took sixth place at 106. Romance rallied for eighth at 138 for head coach Joe Youngblood and the Phantoms, who finished 20th out of 28 teams in the field.
The Phantoms had advanced four wrestlers to the quarterfinal round of their weight class on opening day.
Serwatka went 2-0 at 106 to reach the round of eight while Romance, Valenteen and Paul Hossler (220) each needed one win to reach their respective quarterfinals.
Eddie McCarthy (113), Henry Hancock (152) and David Rosati (285) remained alive in wrestlebacks.
Phoenixville also competed in the Saucon Valley Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 8.
There, the Phantoms got medal finishes from four competitors as they placed sixth in the eight-team field.
Eddie McCarthy placed third at 113 as did Jordan Valenteen at 195. Fourth-place outings were recorded by Garrett Serwatka at 106 and Trey Romance at 138.
