Phoenixville Area Middle School teacher receives award for innovative teaching

Phoenixville Area Middle School teacher, Kevin Corcoran, was recently honored by the 3e Institute of West Chester University as an Educator 500. 3e recognizes and rewards teachers who implement innovative teaching, collaborate with other teachers, and involved the community in their entrepreneurial education process. The presentation of a certificate and stipend were presented at the November PAMS faculty meeting.
Corcoran’s projects involved Teens Against Tobacco Use, a peer teaching tobacco prevention program, and promoting STEM concepts through co-curricular activities, competitive events and relation programs.
TATU is a nationally recognized program working with the American Lung Association. The TATU Club at PAMS worked with the Phoenixville YMCA and the Phoenixville Hospital to create a promotional campaign for Kick Butts Day. Students created posters to be displayed in the community, and traveled to Harrisburg to join in Advocacy Day to speak with Pennsylvania congressmen.
