CONSHOHOCKEN —The Valley Forge Christian College cross country team recently spent an evening volunteering at the Philadelphia-area Cradles to Crayons’ Giving Factory.
C2C is a non-profit organization that provides Philadelphia area children living in poor or low-income households with the essential items needed to thrive - at home, at school and at play. These items are provided free of charge by the surrounding communities.
C2C collects new and nearly new essential items for children in need, from birth to age 12. These include infants and children’s clothing, warm coats, hats, shoes, boots, gloves, newborn baby items, baby safety equipment, toys, books and school supplies. Families, corporations, schools and community partners conduct product collections in their neighborhoods and deliver them to the C2C warehouse.
The cross-country team spent the evening at the Conshohocken warehouse preparing a mass mailing of donor letters for the organization. To complete the mailing in one evening they teamed up with volunteers from Drexel University and Temple University.
“It was a great experience for the entire team,” head coach Ronshea Vargas said. “We appreciated getting to see firsthand what C2C does and the work that goes into providing necessary resources to Philadelphia area children. It was a pleasure to provide a helping hand and our cross-country program looks forward to helping again in the future.”
