Rosemary Ward shows off some of her retro collection. The Retro Convention is scheduled for Sunday in Oaks.
Rosemary Ward is a big fan of the past. She has a huge collection that includes toys, cartoon TV trays from the ’70s and ’80s, as well as lunchboxes and cookie jars. That is what inspired her to get involved with the Retro Convention that spotlights the television shows, the cartoons, the video games, the movies and the music of the ’70s and ’80s. It also touches base on the ’6os and ’90s a bit.
For game enthusiasts there will be video games set up, with a Nintendo World Championships contest, plus a few arcade games and other systems to play.
A huge dealer’s room will feature retro toys and other collectables. There will be a Back to the Future time machine where fans can get their pictures taken with the car for donations. Those donations will then be placed into a charity box for the Cat Angel Network, an organization in Pottstown that helps homeless kittens and cats..
Special guests include half the original voice acting cast from the Thundercats cartoon, which aired in the 1980s; Guest artists include Tom Whalen, Dave Perillo and Scott Derby, who have worked on popular comics and a few have worked with Disney, Universal and Paramount.
