Vikings, Packers take PMYC football victories

CHARLESTOWN - The Vikings nipped the Eagles, 20-19, in Phoenixville Marian Youth Club (PMYC) Big Brothers football action on Thursday night, Oct. 11, at Charlestown Park.
In the Little Brothers contest, the Packers blanked the Cardinals, 26-0.
The Vikings’ steve Brill threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Klenk in the second quarter. Brennan Cassidy had a two-yard scoring run in the third period. Cassidy made the kick placement for two additional points.
Cassidy rushed 12 times for 78 yards, Trip Shoemaker six for 28, Hunter scherfel six for 23, Brill three for 17 and Josh Havrilak one time for six yards. The Vikings ran 28 times for 152 yards. Brill finished 2-for-5 in passing for 76 yards with one TD. Klenk had the one TD reception and Cassidy had the other catch for 20 yards.
Scherfel made seven tackles while Armante Haynes (fumble recovery) and Brill each had five tackles.
The Vikings made up 19-6 halftime de3ficit with eight points in the third quarter and six in the fourth while shutting out the Eagles during the second half.
The Eagles’ Chris Sullivan raced 41 yards for a TD in the first quarter. Durron Johnson ran for the point after. Sullivan rushed for 135 yards on 10 attemps while Johnson was sevenf or 31, Andre Moffatt three for 12 and Alex Washington two for eight yards. The Eagles rushed 22 times for 186 yards. Jack Martinez and Graham Light had pass receptions.
Sullivan led the defense with nine tackles while Johnson made six and Mike Adams (fumble recovery) and Travis pannella had five apiece.

In the Little Brothers game, Mason Brill tossed a 30-yard TD pass to Tyrek cornish in the first quarter. Brill ran for the point after.
During the third quarter, Jeremiah Baker had a 56-yard scoring run and Brill threw a 15-yard scoring pass to Baker. Brill ran for the extra point.
Baker rushed three times for 81 yards, Joshua Vinson four for 69, Cornish two for 45, Trey DAvis four for 23 and Brill three for 18. The Packers garnered 236 yards rushing on 16 plays.
Brill finished 3-for-5 in passing for 75 yards and three touchdowns. Cornish had two receptions for 60 yards and two TDs, and Baker had one grab for 15 yards with one score.
On defense, Desmond Johnson (fumble recovery), Davis and Zahaire Savage each made six tackles and Owen Westerfer had five hits.
For the Cardinals, Gavin Pippen ran nine times for 44 yards, luke Leach three for 18, Savion Smith three for 12 and Justin English two for six yards. The Cardinals picked up 80 yards on 17 snaps.
Pippen was 1-for-2 in passing for eight yards with Leach making the reception.
Leach had six tackles while Pippen and Zachary Gephart had five apiece.
The Packers held a 13-0 hafltime lead.

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the Giants shut out the Rams, 14-0, in Little Brothers action and the Steelers edged the Vikings, 14-12, in Big Brothers.
Tim Youndt rushed for 116 yards on six carries for the Giants while Ryan Shepard was nine for 94, Nate Smith three for 32 and Dylan Pannella two for 12. The Giants ran 20 times for 254 yards. Yount scored on an eight-yard run in the third quarter.
Pannella finished 1-for-2 in passing for 12 yards to Anthony Stevenson with one interception.
Ian Williams (fumble recovery), Shepard and Zachary Williams each made five tackles and Ben Gyuris had four hits.
The Rams’ Andrew Destefano rushed seven times for 43 yards, Uriah Moon 10 for 39, Gabe Nunez five for 18 and Patrick Elisii one for six. The Rams ran 23 plays for 106 yards.
Nick Salvo made six tackles while Destefano had five with one interception and one fumble recovery. Elisii and Tanner Nalley each made five tackles and Kael Gilbert had four.
In the Big Brothers fray, the Steelrs’ Anthony Davido tallied on a three-yard run in the third quarter and also ran for the point after. David Bolles added a 12-yard scoring run in the fourth period with Caleb Moon adding the conversion on a run. The Steelers erased a 12-0 halftime deficit.
Anthony Davido ran seven times for 31 yards, Bolles three for 23, Moon five for 21 and Miles Davido two for seven. The Steelers ran 17 times for 82 yards.
Liam Myers made six tackles while Eddie Kerper, Jacob Cayson and Daniel Thompson each had five and Bolles four.
Brennan Cassidy scored both touchdowns for the Vikings on runs of seven and 10 yards. Cassidy gained 67 yards on 10 attempts. Steve Brill finished seven for 52, Hunter Scherfel nine for 38, Jeff Klenk two for 11 and Trip Shoemaker two for five with Josh Havrilak aiding the backfield cause. The Vikings ran 30 times for 173 yards.
Brill ended up 1-for-4 in passing for five yards with Klenk making the catch.
Anthony Martellucci made six tackles while Armante Haynes, Cassidy and Michael Roskos each had five and Brill recovered a fumble.

On Monday, Oct. 8, the Lions beat the Redskins, 33-6, in Little Brothers and the Packers stopped the Cardinals, 40-12, in the other Little Brothers game.
Mark Montague scored three touchdowns for the Lions and Elijah Martin had one TD. Montague scored on runs of 48, 10 and 66 yards. Martin had a 15-yard TD run. Martin ran for two conversions and Patrick Layne rushed for another.
Montague ran four times for 174 yards, Martin five for 10, D.J Clark two for four and Layne two for three. The Lions ran 13 plays for 191 yards. Martin was 1-for-1 in passing for a 62-yard TD to Dillon Brennan.
Montague led the defense with eight tackles while Layne and Alex Wielage made five apiece.
The Redskins’ Angelo Franzone bolted 17 yards for a TD in the fourth quarter. He ran six times for 24 yards. Damian McNeill finished sevenf or 34, Justin Geiger three for 18, Jared Geiger three for 14 and Antonio Valenteen four for 12. The REdskins ran 23 times for 102 yards.
Franzone and Jared Geiger each made six tackles while Jake sTec made five hits.
For the Packers, Joshua Vinson scored two touchdowns while Trey Davis and Desmond Johnson each had one score. Vinson ran six times for 164 yards, Davis seven for 99, Johnson four for 67 and Mason Brill five for 65. The Packers rushed 22 times for 395 yards.
Owen Westerfer, Emmett Aiman and Zahaire Savage each had six tackles while Preston Brindle and Jasir Jacobs tabbed five apiece.
Vinson scored on runs of 49 and 48 yards. Davis had a 12-yarder and Johnson scampered 55 yards to paydirt.Savion Smith scored on a six-yard run in the thrid period and Gavin Pippen on a 20-yard run in the fourth period for the Cardinals.
Pippen rushed 12 times for 78 yards, luke Leach four for 23, Smith four for 23 and Justin English three for six yards. The Cardinals ran 23 plays for 130 yards. Pippen was 1-for-1 in passing for 12 yards to Leach.
Defensively, Zachary Gephart had eight tyackles with a fumble recovery while Pippen had seven tackles, DeJaun Francis six and George Pappas four.
