UCC Valley Forge’s Wednesday evening “Perplexing Passages” study continues, looking this week at the issue of “War: What is it good for?” The program is hel from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Thursday morning study, held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., looks at “The Last Days of Jesus.” Upcoming: Picnic and games on the lawn following worship on Sept. 9.
Our faith community worships at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays at 45 Walker Road just off Highway 252 between the National Park and Hwy 202/Gateway Shopping Center. Worship includes engaging and relevant preaching, meaningful music and an air-conditioned worship space. We are an opening and affirming community.

First Presbyterian Church
As summer with its various activities comes to an end, fall marks the beginning of a new program year at the First Presbyterian Church. Sept. 9 is fondly referred to as “kick-off” Sunday with our worship service at 10:00 a.m. During the service, the Rev. David McCabe will commission church school teachers, choir members and instrumentalists and members of the various church committees. Following worship lunch will be catered by Bridgeport Rib House as members are encouraged to join a “team” and thus share their talents and passions. There is indeed a niche for everyone as committees include Christian Education, Finance, MAC, Memorials, Nominating, Outreach, Parish Life, Personnel, Property, Stewardship, and Worship and Music.

Parkside United Church Of Christ
Worship will take place on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. in Parkside United Church of Christ, Main Street and Third Avenue, Phoenixville. The Rev. Dr. F. Russell Mitman, pastor, will preach the sermon, “Faith Seeking Understanding.” A program of Christian formation for children is included. The Sanctuary is comfortably air-conditioned. St. John’s United Church of Christ
St. John’s United Church of Christ, 315 Gay Street, Phoenixville, will celebrate Holy Communion at 6 p.m. Thursday, 8:30 a.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Linda S. Gruber, OCC, is officiating. Sunday handicapped accessible Van transportation is available. St. John’s is a God Is Still Speaking congregation.
Centennial Evangelical Lutheran Church,
A Traditional Service will be held at 8:45 a.m. with the Modern Service following at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19. Pastor DJ Lura will be bringing the message at both services. A Parent’s Orientation meeting will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. to discuss upcoming Sunday School and Confirmation Classes beginning this fall.
Pastor DJ Lura will hold Men’s Bible study on Friday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. and Women’s Bible study will follow at 11 a.m. All are welcome!
Sunday, Sept. 9, will be Rally Day, the big “kick-off” for the year with games, fun, food, and registration for Sunday School and Confirmation classes. Confirmation will also be celebrated this day.
There will be a special combined service held at 10 a.m. held in honor of our graduating Confirmation students from last year. Sunday School Classes begin on Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. Confirmation Classes will be held Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. beginning Sept. 12.
There will a Blessing of the Backpacks at both services on Sunday, Aug. 26. Kids can bring their backpacks and school supplies to be prayed over and blessed by the church family at the beginning of the new school year.
On Wednesday evening, Sept. 12, our New Life Worship services begin again. Come and join us at 7 p.m. for a worship service with modern praise music, topical preaching, and a casual atmosphere.

Grace Lutheran Church, Sixth Avenue and Main Street, offers various services each Sunday. Traditional worship is held at 8 a.m. Faith-Full Families, a service for families with young children, is held at 9 a.m. Contemporary worship is at 10:45 a.m. A Reflective worship service is held at 5:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month.
Sunday School will be back in session for all ages starting at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 11. Remember to submit your registration forms online or in the printed form.
GraceCycles, a recreational Christian biking community who enjoys and share in a commitment to health, fellowship and a sustainable environment, is continuing. The next Young Adults ride (ages 20 to 40) will be to Green Lane Park on Sept. 9. The next All Ages ride destination is Green Lane Park on Aug. 25.
