Phoenixville Marian Youth Club (PMYC) will have football, flag football and cheerleading again in 2012. New online registration continues.

Registration will take place at the Charlestown Park facilities, The facility is located behind the Valley Forge Christian College. Registration is for boys and girls ages 5 to 14 years old. Additional registration dates are as follows: Aug. 4, 6:30-8; Aug. 7, 6:30-8; Aug. 9, 6:30-8; and Aug. 13, 6:30-8 p.m. All eligible players are required to register, including all returning players.

All new players are required to provide a copy of their birth certificates. All players need to have a parent or guardian present at the time of registration. The PMYC has provided the youth of Phoenixville and surrounding communities the opportunity to participate in youth football with no fee to participate for the past 57 years.

The 7th Annual DeMarini/Wilson Skills Baseball Instructional Showcase is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 5, on the campus of Mansfield University. Istruction by college coaches and evaluations will be given from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This showcase is open to any top high school prospect looking to further their baseball career at the college or professional level. The cost of the event will be $150, which will include lunch. This promises to be an eventful day for prospective collegiate and professional athletes. Players will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of collegiate coaches from all levels of college baseball. Representation from NCAA Division I, II and III along with Junior College coaches makes this a tremendous opportunity for any high school baseball player. Instruction will be given in all areas of the game. Athletes will be tested in the 60-yard dash, arm strength evaluations from primary positions as well as live batting practice.

Limerick Golf Club has announced it is forming a nine-hole men’s golf league that will play Thursday nights with tee-times between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Individuals or groups are welcome. Those interested in playing in the league can sign up now and through the end of April. There is a one-time entry fee of $15 to join the lague. Greens fees are $15 to walk or $19 to ride. West Chester University is seeking a part-time assistant softball coach. The candidate will be expected to fulfill all responsiblities associated with successful coaching at the collegiate level.

A bachelor’s degree or relevant experience is required for the position. Knowledge of and conformity to NCAA rules is required. Previous college coaching and/or playing experience within the last five years is preferred. College pitching experience preferred.
