PHOENIXVILLE —Phoenixville Area School District is looking for community members to serve on the 2012-2013 Community Budget Advisory Committee. This ad hoc committee will be charged with examining and suggesting potential areas of savings and new revenue opportunities for the school district. The purpose of the committee is not to audit the district’s financial operations, but to become familiar with the district’s financial condition in order to make recommendations to the school board of directors to help improve operations. All policy-making and financial authority remains, as it must by statute, with the Board of Education.
The district is hoping to find 15 to 18 members representing a cross section of the community.
“We really hope to find a diverse group of committee members,” said Dr. Alan Fegley, superintendent of PASD schools. “Ideally we will have retirees, business people, and stay-at-home moms all participating,” he added.
In the 2011-2012 school year, the CBAC was instrumental in identifying several areas of potential growth and savings.
“Having additional community people focused on the budget helps all of us,” Fegley stated.
The group will meet monthly from late August through early December, and make their recommendations to the board of school directors by Dec. 17.
Interested applicants should contact Dr. Fegley via email: email@example.com or call 484-927-5000. Please include your name, phone number, email, occupation, and place of residence (Phoenixville Borough, Schuylkill or East Pikeland Township). Deadline for all applications is July 16, 2012.
