<![CDATA[Montco detectives charge 2 for multi-state burglary ring]]> Norristown - Two Philadelphia men have been charged following an investigation of a multi-state burglary ring that extended into Montgomery County. Two other men are being investigated for their parts in the alleged crime spree.

Jamar Small, 34, and Frederick Gray, 36, both of Philadelphia, have been charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary and theft following an investigation by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau in partnership with state police, and Upper Providence Township, Collegeville Borough and Towamencin police departments.

The Spring-Ford Memorial Arboretum, located behind the Ninth Grade Center, was constructed in the 1970s to honor the memory of district alumni and community residents.

<![CDATA[Hiker rescued from slope in Lower Perkiomen Valley Park]]> Lower Providence - A man was rescued by first responders after being caught in a precarious position on an incline in Lower Perkiomen Valley Park near Egypt Road and Casselberry Drive Monday afternoon.

The middle-aged hiker reportedly started up a slope to gain access to a trail. The grade of the slope became increasingly steep and the hiker felt that further forward progress or trying to climb back down would be unsafe so he called 911.

<![CDATA[Castor calls for 911 funding reform]]> NORRISTOWN - Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce L. Castor is calling for reform of the fee-based system that funds 911 operations, saying the current system imposes a burden on the county's taxpayers.

"Each year, for as long as I can remember, we've had to pay more and more of the 911 costs out of the county operation funds and not from money from the state that is supposed to be in the funding stream for this service," Castor said.
