SKIPPACK — A Conshohocken man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after his 1996 Buick Regal hit a Freightliner trash truck on Route 73/Skippack Pike around 2:55 a.m. July 24. According to information from the state police at Skippack, Kevin Moore, 19, was driving the Buick west on Route 73 when he failed to observe the trash truck stopped ahead of him as it picked up recycling. The truck had its four-way hazard lights activated, police said.
The front of Moore’s Buick hit the rear of the trash truck, causing damage that required it to be towed from the scene, police said. Moore, who was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, was not injured, police said. The operator of the recycling truck, Fletcher White, 43, of Harrisburg, suffered minor injuries in the crash. White was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, police said. The truck sustained moderate damage in the crash, police said.
Moore allegedly exhibited signs of intoxication at the crash scene, police said, and was given field-sobriety tests, which he failed. He was taken into custody and transported to Einstein Hospital in Montgomery Township for a blood-draw. Charges are pending, awaiting the lab results.
