College Corner: Hayde in goal for ODU

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

At Old Dominion University, sophomore Karen Hayde (Phoenixville) is the starting goalkeeper in women’s lacrosse.

The 5-5 Hayde has started all 11 games for the Monarchs (3-8) and has made 89 saves for a .352 save percentage. She has allowed 164 goals for a 14.91 average.

Bloomsburg sophomore Marisa Moley (Phoenixville, Spring-Ford) had two assists in a loss to Mercyhurst. Senior Kelsey Metzler (Perkiomen Valley) added one assist.

WOMEN’S TRACK

AND FIELD

Elizabethtown junior Traci Tempone (Perkiomen Valley) set a new facility record in the 3,000 meters (10:14.41) as the Blue Jays won the Capital Area Classic.

Freshman teammate Rachel Carr (Phoenixville) came through in the anchor leg to help the Jays win the 4x400 relay (4:12.62). Carr also finished second in the 800 meters (2:19.59).

BASEBALL

Kutztown sophomore Thomas Romano (Phoenixville) had one hit in a 7-3 victory over Shippensburg. Sophomore Ricky Gorrell (Spring-Ford) had an RBI in the contest.

Cedarville sophomore Sean Larkin (Spring-Ford) earned the two-inning save in a 14-10 win at Kentucky State.

At Northeastern University in Boston, Shane Allen (Phoenixville) is a freshman infielder. He has seen action in two of the team’s 26 games thus far this season.

SOFTBALL

Alvernia senior Miranda Peto (Phoenixville) slammed a home run and double in a 12-4 victory over Widener.

MEN’S LACROSSE

Cabrini junior Billy McCabe (Spring-Ford) forced a career-high three turnovers in a win over No. 15 Ithaca.

Lafayette sophomore Brian Bock (Spring-Ford) had two goals in a wild 10-9 double-overtime win over High Point.

Neumann sophomore Mark Campion (Spring-Ford) had one goal in an 11-4 loss to Albright.
