PHOENIXVILLE — The Phoenixville Area Education Association released a statement explaining why it turned down Phoenixville Area School District’s counter to its own counter offer during negotiations last week.

“The PAEA was unable to respond with a counter offer at Wednesday’s negotiating session.” the statement said. “Although both sides made movement on several issues, it was insufficient for the PAES negotiating team to develop a counter offer.”

Both sides met Jan. 23 in the presence of the director of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Mediation, William Gross.

The school district received a counter off from the education association, which represents the district’s teachers, to the proposal it put forth in November. After caucusing, the school district made a counter offer.

RELATED ASSETS

According to the district’s statement released Jan. 25, the education association rejected the district’s counter offer.

No future negotiating dates were set, both sides said.

The district said it had five dates it provided Gross with for negotiations but those were not discussed by the education association.
