Phoenixville wrestlers Garrett Serwatka, Trey Romance and Jordan Valenteen each won four of five individual bouts during Saturday’s Jersey Shore Duals. The Phantoms finished 1-4 as a team on the day.
Phoenixville defeated Clarion, 41-27; but fell to warrior Run, 60-9; Wallenpaupack, 58-14; Cedar Cliff, 57-17; and Canton, 45-26.
Mark Cermanski earned two wins for the Phantoms while teammates Henry Hancock, Tim Labik and Dave Rosati addede one apiece.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Phoenixville 68, Boyertown 61: Marcus Howell and Eric Wallace had the hot shooting hands as the Phantoms outlasted the Bears on Friday night, Jan. 18, in Boyertown.
Howell scored a team-high 24 points and Wallace netted 20 for Phoenixville, which broke open an 18-18 tie after one quarter.
Greg Hughes cored 12 points for the Phantosm, who knocked down nine 3-point field goals, including four by Wallace.
Mike Mansur led Boyertown with 24 points.
Lansdale Catholic 69, Phoenixville 61: Marcus Howell scored 19 points and DeAndre tallied 14, but the Phantoms fell to the Crusaders in a non-league road outing on Thursday night, Jan. 17.
Lansdale Catholic opened a 33-25 lead in the first half and then played the Phantoms even down the stretch to post the win and end Phoenixville’s two-game winning streak.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lansdale Catholic 55, Phoenixville 39: Aubree Flagg scored 19 points for the Phantoms (4-13) in a non-league home loss to former PAC-10 rival Lansdale Catholic Tuesday night.
Flagg had seven field goals and shot 5-for-6 at the foul line for the Phantoms, who were within 10-9 after the first period and 22-20 at halftime. The Crusaders opened the gap with a 20-8 advantage during the third quarter.
Jada Boyce added nine points for Phoenixville and Mary Sinnott finished with seven.
