BOWLING

The Phoenixville Senior Bowling League is looking for Senior-aged bowlers to have fun bowling at Limerick bowl on Monday mornings. The league has about 50 bowlers, both men and women, who enjoy the exercise and the company of each other. Players don’t have to live in Phoenixville and don’t have to bowl well since the league is just to have fun. Interested bowlers are asked to join the group. BASEBALL

The Villanova Wildcats Youth Holiday Camp for ages 7-12 is set for Saturday, Dec. 29.

The Millersville University baseball program has set its Winer Advanced Hitting Clinic for Thursday, Dec. 27, and its Winter Adbvanced pitcher/Catcher Clinic for Friday, Dec. 28.

There are three sessions for each clinic. Session 1 for both is for players 6-12 years old. Sessions 2 and 3 are for players 13-18 years old. Both clinic take place in Brooks Hall on the campus of Millersville University. Space is limited to 30 players per session and the cost is $75 per session. Session 1 runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Session 2 runs from 1-4 p.m., and Session 3 runs from 5-8 p.m.

The hitting clinic centers its focus on swing mechanics, drills, live BP, soft toss, baserunning, bunting and the mental approach to hitting. Staff includes current millersville coaches, players and high school coaches.

In the pitcher/catcher clinic, each position receives focused attention. Pitchers learn about mechanics, grips, release points, pickoff moves and more. Catchers learn receiving, blocking, throwing, bunt and tag plays and more.

Former Major League Baseball player and current Philadelphia phillies scout Eric Valent, in conjunction with the Berkshire Baseball Club, will be conducting the first ever Eric Valent Baseball Evaulation Camp on Jan. 21, 2013, at the Keystone Fieldhouse, located on the campus of Kutztown University. The camp is for high school players with graduation years of 2013-2016. The primary purpose of this event is for each player to receive an honoest evaluation of their skill set at this time with projected growth in the future. All players will receive a scouting report by Eric Valent and other professinal scouts which they can provide for college coaches. BASKETBALL

The West Chester CYO Christmas Classic will be held at West Chester University from Dec. 27-30. Boys and Girls “A” and “B” teams will be from grades 5-12. Teams are asked to donate canned foods for local shelters during this holiday season.
