Community celebrates first Martin Luther King Jr. Ball in Phoenixville

PHOENIXVILLE — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of equality and social justice was in full effect Saturday night at the first Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Ball.

The celebration took place at Franklin Commons and was organized by Phoenixville’s Grimes AME Church. More than 100 people attended the ball. Proceeds from the ball benefited the church which plans to make the church building more handicapped accessible.

The theme of the ball was “We Have The Dream” and many speakers addressed how Dr. Martin Luther King’s civil rights movement is still affecting the Phoenixville area.Read Story
